A BILL that seeks to eradicate corruption and bad planning with regard to building and development has been called "flawed" and "anti-democratic" by members of Kilkenny County Council.
During a heated debate on the proposed 'Planning and Development Amendment Bill 2009' at this month's meeting of the Council many councillors expressed their anger over the Bill.
According to the Oireachtas the purpose of the Bill is to amend the Planning and Development Acts 2000 to 2007 with the principal aim of supporting economic renewal and promoting sustainable development. This is to be achieved by ensuring that the planning system supports targeted investment on infrastructure by the State and further modernising of land zoning.
